概要:

The widening urban inequalities in Chinese cities are found to be manifested in their spatial structure. Taking advantage of the 2007 large‐scale Urban Household Survey in 255 Chinese cities, our cross‐city regressions show that the intra‐urban spatial inequalities rise with average income, education level, urban density and urban growth in terms of population and GDP. But such inequalities are mitigated with new home supply, improved housing affordability and more adequate public transport service. In addition, the Hukou system in Chinese cities, instituted to restrict nonresidents from accessing formal housing and local public services, appear to aggravate intra‐urban spatial inequalities in China’s urbanization. Further research is called for in order to understand the impacts of the intra‐urban spatial inequality on the social economic development of different urban population groups in developing economies.
