Summary:

After the reform of tax sharing system in 1994, the land transfer fee, as a main source of extrabudgetary revenue of local governments in China, has played an important role in the economic development of local governments. This paper focuses on the status quo of local land finance in China, using detailed data, a complete review of the relationship between local finance and land leasing.
