Summary:
The change of land use is not only the result of China's rapid economic growth, but also the direct and indirect cause of rapid economic growth. According to the official land use change survey data (2004-2008), this study found that drastic changes in land use occurred between 2004 and 2008 in China, especially in the conversion of agricultural land into non-agricultural land. Land use change shows some spatial correlation. Correlation coefficient analysis shows that there is a significant relationship between land use change and GDP growth. Structural equation analysis shows that land use change is driven by economic growth. The expansion of industrial land directly promotes urban economic growth. On the other hand, land use has also been successfully used to attract foreign investment and enhance infrastructure investment, indirectly promoting urban economic growth. At the same time, land use change presents a negative spatial correlation function. This study shows that land use is not a simple production input, but a strategic segment of China's urban economic growth.
