2025–2026 Research Grants

The Peking University–Lincoln Institute Center for Urban Development and Land Policy (PKU-Lincoln Center) launches its 19th annual research grant program to support studies on China’s urban economic development, urban-rural land use, housing policies, local public finance, ecological environmental protection, natural resource management and related fields.
The Center consistently prioritizes empirical research grounded in theoretical analysis. Eligible research topics include, but are not limited to:
  • Urban Land Use and Carbon Mitigation

  • Urban System Development and Spatial Planning

  • Sustainable Urban Public Finance

  • Urban Renewal

  • Housing for Low-Income Urban Households

  • Ecological Conservation and Natural Resource Governance

  • Application of Big Data in the Above Fields

Eligibility

Applicants shall be researchers affiliated with domestic universities and research institutions, who obtained their doctoral degree no earlier than January 1, 2020. Prior recipients of this grant are ineligible to reapply, to ensure funding opportunities are accessible to more young researchers.
An additional quota of 2–5 grants is reserved exclusively for applicants from western China this cycle.

Grant Terms

Funding term: 1 year
Grant amount: RMB 80,000 per project

2025–2026 Graduate Thesis Fellowships

The PKU-Lincoln Center opens applications for the 21st annual graduate thesis fellowship program.

Eligibility

Applicants shall be full-time master’s or doctoral students enrolled at domestic universities, scheduled to graduate in summer 2026. At the time of application, candidates shall have completed their thesis proposal defense (with supervisor-signed proposal certification) or submit a supervisor-signed research application form. Thesis research shall cover urban economics, land policy, territorial spatial planning, public finance, housing policy, environmental policy or healthy cities.

Fellowship Terms

Funding term: 1 year
Doctoral thesis fellowship: RMB 40,000
Master’s thesis fellowship: RMB 30,000
