On July 3–4, 2024, the online review meetings for the 2024–2025 PKU-Lincoln Center Research Grants and Dissertation Fellowships were held.
The Dissertation Fellowship Review Committee consists of Professor He Canfei, Dean of the School of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Peking University; Professor Tao Ran, School of Humanities and Social Science, Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen); and Associate Professor Sun Tieshan, School of Government, Peking University.
The Research Grant Review Committee comprises Professor Yang Jiawen, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School; Professor Liu Gang, School of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Peking University; and Research Fellow Zhu Shengjun, School of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Peking University.

Research Grants
The PKU-Lincoln Center runs an ongoing research grant programme to support research in fields including urban land use and policy, public finance and property tax, housing markets and policies, urban transport, urban environmental and spatial planning systems, urban infrastructure investment and financing, and nature conservation. The Center consistently prioritises empirical research grounded in detailed data and evidence. This cycle places particular emphasis on research topics such as urban land use and carbon reduction, urban system development and spatial planning, municipal fiscal sustainability, urban regeneration, affordable housing for low-income urban households, ecological conservation and natural resource governance.
Full-time researchers and scholars based in China conducting research in the above fields are eligible to apply. Applicants shall generally have obtained their doctoral degree no more than five years prior to application. Each grant supports one year of research with funding of RMB 80,000.
Dissertation Fellowships
The PKU-Lincoln Center maintains a continuous dissertation fellowship scheme. Eligible applicants are full-time master’s or doctoral students in their second year or above at domestic universities. The proposed research must form the official dissertation topic, with a signed supervisor’s confirmation of approved thesis proposal, and applicants must remain full-time students throughout the funding period. Research areas include urban economics, land policy, territorial spatial planning, public finance, housing policy, environmental policy and healthy cities.
Fellowships cover one year of dissertation research: RMB 40,000 for PhD candidates and RMB 30,000 for master’s students.
