Announcement: 2024 PKU-Lincoln Center Peking University Undergraduate Research Grant Application Opens Now

Applicants for this research grant are limited to final-year undergraduate students of Peking University.
The PKU-Lincoln Center Peking University Undergraduate Research Grant is established to encourage and support undergraduate students of Peking University to conduct research in fields related to urban development and land policy. The program will continue to fund final-year undergraduates of Peking University in 2024 to carry out scientific research covering urban and regional development, spatial planning, land policy, housing policy, local public finance, environmental policy, land use and carbon emission reduction, etc. The funding amount is RMB 5,000 per grantee.
The Peking University–Lincoln Institute Center for Urban Development and Land Policy (hereinafter referred to as the PKU-Lincoln Center) was jointly founded by Peking University and the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy to conduct talent training and policy research.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Officially registered final-year undergraduate students of Peking University (expected to graduate in July 2024).

  2. Possess strong independent research capabilities.

Application Proposal Requirements

  1. Project title, research significance, research content, research objectives, and policy issues to be addressed.

  2. Research methodologies.

  3. Distinctive features and innovations of the project.

  4. Research schedule, budget breakdown, and expected research outcomes.

  5. The application proposal shall be around 2,000 words in length; the application form template is available for download.

Review Principles

The PKU-Lincoln Center Peking University Undergraduate Research Grant will organize expert reviews of all submitted proposals in accordance with the principles of fairness, impartiality and transparency.
  1. Research topics shall fall within urban and regional development, spatial planning, land administration and policy, housing policy, local public finance, environmental policy, or other closely related fields.

  2. Reviewers will also assess the applicant’s academic background and research potential.

Application Procedures

  1. Applicants shall submit their application proposals to jinj@plc.pku.edu.cn no later than April 10, 2024.

  2. Review results will be published on the official WeChat account of the PKU-Lincoln Center by April 20, 2024, and applicants will also be notified via email.

  3. In May 2024, the PKU-Lincoln Center will sign research project agreements with successful grant recipients.

Final Research Report Requirements

Grant recipients shall submit a complete final research report by the specified deadline, which must include the following components:
  1. Introduction

  2. Literature review of relevant domestic and international studies

  3. Theoretical framework and methodological design of the research

  4. Data sources and explanations

  5. Analysis results and discussion

  6. Policy discussion derived from the research

  7. Conclusions

Administrative Regulations

  1. All grant recipients will have their research progress supervised by the PKU-Lincoln Center. Recipients shall maintain close communication with the Center and submit regular progress updates in a timely manner.

  2. The final research output shall be submitted to the PKU-Lincoln Center by June 15, 2024.

  3. All academic papers published with funding support from the PKU-Lincoln Center Peking University Undergraduate Research Grant must acknowledge the grant by stating “Supported by the PKU-Lincoln Center Peking University Undergraduate Research Grant”.

  4. The PKU-Lincoln Center reserves the final right of interpretation regarding the PKU-Lincoln Center Peking University Undergraduate Research Grant.
