Announcement | Call for Applications: 2020-2021 Peking University-Lincoln Center Undergraduate Research Fund

Peking University-Lincoln Institute Center for Urban Development and Land Policy (hereinafter referred to as PKU-Lincoln Center) is a joint institution founded by Peking University and the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, dedicated to talent cultivation and policy research.
To encourage and support undergraduate students at Peking University to conduct research in fields related to urban development and land policy, the PKU-Lincoln Center Undergraduate Research Fund is established. This program continues to fund final-year undergraduate students of Peking University to carry out scientific research in areas including urban and regional development, spatial planning, land management and policies, housing policies, local finance and environmental policies. Each grantee will receive a grant of 5,000 RMB.

Eligibility for Applicants

  1. Fully registered final-year undergraduate students of relevant majors at Peking University (expected to graduate in July 2021).

  2. Possess strong independent research capabilities.

Requirements for Application Proposal

  1. Project title, research significance, research content, research objectives and policy issues to be addressed.

  2. Research methodologies.

  3. Features and innovations of the project.

  4. Work schedule, budget and expected research outcomes.

  5. The application proposal shall be around 3,000 words in length. Application forms can be obtained via email by contacting jint@pku.edu.cn.

Review Principles

The PKU-Lincoln Center Undergraduate Research Fund will organize expert reviews in accordance with the principles of fairness, impartiality and openness.
  1. Research topics shall fall within the fields of urban and regional development, spatial planning, land management and policies, housing policies, local finance, environmental policies, or other closely related areas.

  2. Academic background and research potential of applicants will be taken into consideration.

Application Procedures

  1. Applicants shall submit the application proposal to jint@pku.edu.cn by March 15, 2021.

  2. Review results will be released on the official WeChat account of PKU-Lincoln Center and notified to applicants via email by March 31, 2021.

  3. PKU-Lincoln Center will sign research agreements with successful applicants in early April 2021.

Requirements for Final Research Report

Grant recipients shall submit a complete research report within the specified time frame, which shall include the following parts:
  1. Introduction

  2. Literature review of relevant domestic and international studies

  3. Theoretical framework and methodological design of the research

  4. Data sources and explanations

  5. Analysis results and discussion

  6. Policy implications of the research

  7. Conclusions

Management Regulations

  1. The research progress of grant recipients will be supervised by PKU-Lincoln Center. Recipients shall maintain close communication with the Center and report research progress on a timely basis.

  2. All applicants shall submit a progress report by May 15, 2021, and the Center will conduct an assessment on project implementation.

  3. The final research outcomes shall be submitted to PKU-Lincoln Center by June 15, 2021.

  4. Any academic papers published with the support of the PKU-Lincoln Center Undergraduate Research Fund shall clearly acknowledge the Fund.

  5. PKU-Lincoln Center reserves the right of final interpretation of these regulations.
