About Our Research

OUR RESEARCH

The Peking University-Lincoln Institute Center for Urban Development and Land Policy's (PLC) research focuses on property taxes and local public finance, land policy, housing policy, urban development and planning, sustainable development and environmental policy, as well as other related fields. Based on the strong scientific research strength of the founding institutions of Peking University and the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, the PLC brings together well-known scholars in related fields at home and abroad to carry out comprehensive, interdisciplinary, data-based empirical analysis and policy research.

Since its establishment in 2007, the Peking University-Lincoln Institute Center for Urban Development and Land Policy has been the leading institution in China to introduce international knowledge, experience, and techniques in property tax laws, assessment, and administration.

WHAT WE’RE ABOUT

The Lincoln Institute’s Program on the People’s Republic of China was initiated in 2003. In 2007, the Institute and Peking University jointly established the Peking University—Lincoln Institute Center for Urban Development and Land Policy (PLC) in Beijing. The PLC not only executes the activities of the China Program of the Lincoln Institute, but also carries out policy studies entrusted by the central and local governments of China. The activities of the PLC are carried out by the PLC staff and a large network of international and Chinese experts specializing in the areas of land policy, property taxation, municipal finance, urban planning, housing policy, and environmental and conservation policy.

LATEST PUBLICATIONS

The PLC publishes and disseminates the research products of the fellowship programs in various media forms. To date, the PLC has published and translated 23 books in Chinese and English, 10 policy briefs, more than 200 working papers, and over 40 special research reports.
